If your paper is written using Microsoft Word, download the template package word97.zip. This template will work with Microsoft Word 97 and 2000 for Windows, as well as Word 98 and 2001 for Macintosh. In this package, you will find the following files (example is for Word97):
Instructions
  1. All manuscripts must be in English.
  2. The paper must be no longer than four (4) pages. It may be shorter.
  3. To achieve the best viewing experience both for the printed proceedings and the CD-ROM, we strongly encourage authors to use the Times-Roman font (the LaTeX style file as well as the Word template files use Times-Roman). In addition, this will give the proceedings a more uniform look.
  4. If you are using LaTeX, please use the PostScript versions of the Computer Modern and AMS Math fonts, available from the AMS website. This will ensure that viewing of equations will be scalable in online documents.
  5. Authors should submit files that will be printed exactly as received, without any additional formatting or scaling required.
  6. The paper should be in the following format:
    • Single-spaced
    • Two (2) columns
    • Printed in black ink
    • No smaller than nine (9) point type font throughout the paper, including figure captions. In nine point type font, capital letters are 2 mm high.
    • Please do NOT change the headers and footers. The page numbers will be changed automatically from the electronic submission documents.
    • Any text or other material outside the following margins will not be printed (except for header and footer):
    • All text and figures must be contained in a 175 mm x 226 mm (6.9 inch x 8.9 inch) image area (not including headers and footers given in the template files)
    • The inside margin (two-sided printing) must be 22mm (.85 inches)
    • The outside margin should be 19mm (.75 inches) for US Letter size.
    • The top margin has to be 25mm (1.0 inch).
    • Center each page within this image area in a two-column format.
    • Please follow the style of the sample paper that is included with regard to title, authors, addresses, abstract, heading, and subheadings. Page numbers, session numbers, and conference identification will be inserted when the paper is included in the proceedings.
    • Please format the paper for US Letter size (8.5 in x 11 in, 216 mm x 280 mm) white paper. If you must format for A4-size paper, please maintain the top and inside margins as well as the printable area (175mm x 226mm) as specified and as found in the templates.
    • The first page should have the paper title, author(s), and affiliation(s) centered on the page across both columns, as indicated in the template. The remainder of the text must be in the two-column format, staying within the indicated image area.
More Specifics Thank you for following all of these instructions carefully! If you have any questions or comments concerning the submission, please don't hesitate to contact me at moo@media.mit.edu.
